The Ramblings of an Investor in the Sport of Kings - Autism Spectrum Disorders Aid. 30th November 2011
On the 12th November 2011 I wrote to the people who follow my FREE horse racing selections via on my website and/or FREE Global Email Distribution List that commencing on the 1st January in 2012 I was going to conduct another Charity Challenge. The 2012 Charity Challenge will run for an entire 12 months, ending on 31st December 2012. The 2012 Charity Challenge note can be read at http://bit.ly/uUCi7R. I mentioned in this note that I was looking for a not-for-profit charity/charities to assist.
The first charity to benefit from the 2012 Charity Challenge will be Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Aid. This wonderful charity organisation was initially formed by a few people in Australia who are Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs). They have witnessed the power of LEGO play to help children with ASD communicate and grow.
Parents and professionals use the term ASD to describe a group of pervasive developmental conditions amongst children. ASD includes Autistic Disorder/Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified). You can read more about ASD Aid and their great work on their website at http://asdaid.org/.
I will commence the 2012 Charity Challenge Betting Bank on the 1st January 2012 at $1000.00 (My money). Let’s hope that on 31st December 2012, it’s a lot higher. If I do have a successful year and make my followers a few dollars, then bear in mind that in mid-December 2012, I will expect you to donate a percentage of your profits to ASD Aid. Obviously, this is based on the old honour system.
Depending on how much profit is realised at the end of 2012 will be dependent on how many non-mainstream, not- for-profit charities I can support with funding. But in the first instance it will be ASD Aid. I will be releasing the governing rules for transparency for the 2012 Charity Challenge later in December 2011.
Please note: If your kids have outgrown their LEGO bricks, please donate them so that they can be used to help kids with ASD. Simply email ASD Aid This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to arrange a collection.
